Community Property

Property acquired by a husband or wife during a marriage while living in Arizona, California, Idaho, Louisiana, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, Washington State, and Wisconsin.

Generally, everything acquired or derived from the earnings of either spouse is shared equally by the husband and wife who each spouse only one‐half of the property. These default community property rules may be modified by premarital and postmarital agreements.
